Skin condition psoriasis is a chronic disease in which the multiplication speed of cells increases up to 10 times. The skin becomes painful, bumpy, red, and itchy. The commonly affected areas are the trunk, belly button, elbows, lower back, knees, nails, ears, and scalp. Psoriasis is also triggered by smoking, alcohol consumption, skin infections, injuries, weather, stress, and certain medications.
Psoriasis treatment includes;
- Topical treatments like salicylic acid, corticosteroids, retinoids, and coal tar.
- Oral or injected medication like cyclosporine, retinoids, steroids, and thioguanine.
- Phototherapies like heliotherapy, psoralen, and exposure to UVB.
