Pico Laser Treatment: When Pigmentation, Scars & Dull Skin Need More Than Skincare

Pico laser uses ultra-short pulses of energy to break pigment into fine particles the body clears naturally — treating pigmentation, acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, and uneven skin tone, with minimal downtime.

At LiV Clinic, Pico laser is never a one-size-fits-all add-on. Every treatment plan starts with a proper dermatological assessment — because not every skin concern needs a laser, and not every laser setting suits every skin type.

Benefits

Benefits of Pico Laser Treatment

Why Pico laser is a preferred option for pigmentation, scarring and overall skin quality.

Ultra-short picosecond pulses break pigment into finer particles the body clears more quickly — fewer sessions compared to traditional lasers.

Lower heat output reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, making it suitable for darker skin types.

Most patients return to daily activities immediately, with only mild, short-lived redness after treatment.

Triggers deep dermal remodeling, helping smooth acne scars, refine pores, and improve skin firmness over time.

Most patients describe only a mild tingling or snapping sensation, well-tolerated even without numbing cream.

Pigmentation, scarring, pores, and dullness can be addressed within the same customised treatment plan.

Why LiV Clinic

Why Pico Laser at LiV Clinic Is Different

A plan built around your skin, decided by a dermatologist.

Diagnosis First

Assessed by a Certified
Consultant Dermatologist

Pigmentation has more than one cause — melasma, sun damage, or post-inflammatory marks each respond differently. Your skin is assessed clinically, using dermoscopy where needed, before any laser setting is chosen.

Personalised Protocol

Your Personalised
Treatment Plan

Energy setting, handpiece, session count, and any combination with skin boosters or peels are built around your specific concern and skin goals.

Safety First

Calibrated for Darker
Skin Tones

Pico laser’s shorter pulses generate less heat, lowering the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — monitored and adjusted under dermatologist supervision throughout your course.

What Our Patients Say About Pico Laser Treatment

4.9

LiV Clinic Bukit Jalil overall rating on Google · 234+ reviews

I visited Liv Clinic to seek treatment for an ice pick scar on my nose. The pricing was very reasonable, and the clinic’s relaxing ambiance made the experience even better. Dr Alyster recommended a combination of TCA and Pico Laser treatments for my specific case. Throughout the process, Agness offered consistent and supportive guidance such as how to take care of my skin after treatment. My scar is now becoming less visible, and I’m truly grateful for the team’s professionalism and care.

— Kenny Tan

“It is great experience in Liv Clinic. I get the instant effect after did the fire and ice treatment and Pico laser. Thank you to Dr Alyster and Ms Agness!”

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions About Pico Laser Treatment

Certified Consultant Dermatologists and Aesthetic Physicians across our clinics assess and oversee every Pico laser treatment plan.

Most patients need 3–6 sessions, spaced 3–4 weeks apart. Your dermatologist will confirm an estimate after assessment.

Around 20–30 minutes, depending on the treatment area and settings used.

Gradual improvement over 2–4 weeks per session, as the body clears broken-down pigment. Results build cumulatively across the full course, with more visible changes in tone, texture, and clarity over time

Pico laser delivers energy in picosecond pulses, creating a photoacoustic effect rather than heat. This shatters pigment and tattoo ink into fine particles the body clears naturally, while stimulating collagen and elastin (LIOB) for firmer, smoother skin.

Most patients feel a mild snapping or tingling sensation. Numbing cream can be applied for comfort.

Little to no downtime for standard sessions. Some patients may experience:
  • Mild redness — usually settles within a few hours to a day
  • Slightly longer recovery for more intensive protocols
Your dermatologist will advise beforehand based on your settings.

Pico laser may not be suitable if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have an active skin infection or open wounds
  • Have a history of keloid scarring in the area
  • Have recent sun exposure or sunburn
  • Are on medications that increase skin sensitivity (e.g. isotretinoin)

A dermatologist assessment before treatment confirms whether Pico laser is right for you.

Immediately after treatment, avoid:

  • Direct sun exposure — apply sunscreen daily
  • Harsh exfoliants, retinols & active skincare for a few days
  • Hot showers, saunas & steam rooms
  • Strenuous exercise that causes excessive sweating or heat
  • Makeup for at least 24 hours

Generally yes. Its shorter pulses generate less heat than older lasers, lowering the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The right settings still depend on your individual skin — which is why treatment is assessed and calibrated by a dermatologist.

Typically RM300 to RM1,200 per session, depending on treatment area, settings, and whether combined with other treatments (e.g. TCA or skin boosters). A full course is usually 3–6 sessions. Book a consultation for a personalised quote.
